Tell us what you think about our draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) by 7 June 2017.

Wingecarribee Shire Council is in the final stage of developing a Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) following extensive consultation earlier this year. People with a disability, their families and carers plus local service providers were all involved.

The DIAP has been developed to help improve access and inclusion for people who have a disability. Did we get it right?

We would like to hear your thoughts to ensure people with a disability have equal access to buildings, activities, facilities, services and information.

Take a look at the draft DIAP and then share your thoughts!

Wingecarribee Shire Council is in the process of developing a Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) which will help guide our work to improve access and inclusion for people with a disability.

It is important that the plan is developed in consultation with the whole community to ensure Council services, activities and facilities cater for the needs of everyone and guide us towards creating a more inclusive and accessible environment.

Anyone may complete the survey but we’d particularly like to hear from people with a disability as well as their carers, family members and friends.

Information you provide in this survey will help guide staff when developing the plan and identifying areas of priority. The survey focuses on four areas:

    1. Positive attitudes and behaviours
    2. Liveable Communities
    3. Employment
    4. Systems and processes

Share your thoughts and ideas! What improvements do you think would ensure people with a disability have equal access to buildings, activities, facilities, services and information?

The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. If you would prefer to complete a paper survey please collect one from Council's Civic Centre and libraries or call Nicola Robson on 48680801 to book in a telephone survey.

This survey is designed to gain feedback from Wingecarribee Shire Council staff in regards to your level of understanding of disability issues, your training needs in this area and the identification of barriers for people with disability in accessing council services and facilities.

Your suggestions on what you think we could do to be more inclusive of people with disabilities are welcome.
