PROJECT COMPLETE | October 2020

The $383,290 project was funded with $270,190 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund and Community Building Partnership programs, $111,100 from Wingecarribee Shire Council and a further $2000 donation from Berrima District Rotary Club.

Included in the upgrade of the playground are two new carousels, in-ground mini trampolines, a seesaw, play-net and toddler play ship. A new soft-fall base, retaining walls and carpark access have also been added. See NEWS below for details.

Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking comments during public exhibition of the Draft Berrima Marketplace Masterplan.

Council has developed a draft Masterplan for the Berrima Marketplace which will guide future provision, development and maintenance of this unique park in the historic village of Berrima.

The Marketplace is a very popular park for children and families, as well as home to a number of well attended events including Anzac Day and Australia Day.

The draft plan seeks to accommodate the needs of all users, proposing to provide:

  • an upgrade of the existing playground to become an all abilities play space,
  • accessible parking,
  • accessible pathways linking to toilets and playground,
  • provision of water and power access for events held in the eastern precinct,
  • tree management and suggested replacement species
  • irrigation

The design has been carefully developed with due regard to the unique character of the parkland, aiming to preserve and maintain its heritage style by utilising an appropriate palette of materials and colours.
