ABOUT OUR CHILDREN'S SERVICES

Wingecarribee Shire Council coordinates Family Day Care and Wingecarribee Out of School Hours Care for the benefit of parents and carers in the area.

Family Day Care provides education and care in a "home-based" setting by independent self employed registered Educators, who operate under Council's license. Educators are recruited and monitored by childcare professionals employed by Council. Education and care is provided in small groups and children enjoy the security of a familiar setting with only one adult Educator.

Council operates Wingecarribee Out of School Hours Care from Mittagong Public School. The Before School Care Service (entrance from Pioneer St) operates from 6.30am - 8.30am. The After School Care Service operates from 3pm to 6pm (entrance from Bessemer St). Children who attend other schools in the district are welcome, provided parents can arrange suitable transport. Care is provided in an informal setting with children able to participate in a variety of art, craft, sporting and recreational activities. The Vacation Care Service operates throughout the year, generally in line with the Dept Education School Holiday periods. Vacation Care operates from 8.00am - 6.00pm on those designated days.

All our Services are bound by the Children (Education and Care Services National Law Application) Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 and monitored by the relevant government authority.

As a requirement of the Regulations all Children’s services are required to have a range of policies and procedures which guide the operation, management and day to day practices of each service.

Our Service Philosophy, Policy and Procedures are developed to incorporate the legislative laws and regulations and are based on “best practice models” in line with industry standards and community expectations.

For further information, please contact the Children's Services Coordination Unit by calling (02) 4861 2866 or send an email to familydaycare@wsc.nsw.gov.au or WOOSH@wsc.nsw.gov.au.
