We’re seeking nominations from suitably qualified, experienced and skilled volunteers who would like to represent their community and work with other committee members to make recommendations to Council on a range of policy matters.

We're looking for people who possess specific skills and talents and an understanding of the local community’s needs and aspirations.

Nominations are currently invited for membership of the:

  • Vacancies in Access and Seniors Community Reference Groups

    Community members with relevant knowledge and experience are sought to help guide Council and assist in ensuring a coordinated, collaborative and strategic approach to individual and broader community wellbeing in the Wingecarribee Shire.

    People with an interest in access and inclusion or positive aging and issues relevant to older people are invited to nominate themselves for a position on the following Community Reference Groups:

    • Access Community Reference Group (1 position vacant). The purpose of this group is to monitor the implementation and review of Council’s Disability lnclusion Action Plan.
    • Seniors Community Reference Group (2 positions vacant). The purpose of this group is to monitor the implementation and review of the Positive Ageing Strategy and Action Plan 2016 – 2026 .

    Positions are also available on both Reference Groups for service provider or organisational representatives.

    Nominations must be received by 4.30pm Friday 28 June 2019.

    Members of the Wingecarribee community with an interest in local history and heritage are invited to nominate themselves for a position on the Heritage Advisory Committee.

    In the position, you would be part of a broader committee membership helping to advise Council on conserving and protecting our local history and heritage.

    The position would suit a person with experience and a demonstrated interest in heritage conservation (built, natural, landscape), whether as an owner or manager of a heritage item or heritage practitioner. The Committee meets every second month on a Friday afternoon.

    Nominations must be received at Council by 4.30pm on Wednesday 29 May 2019.

    To express an interest in filling the position please complete a nomination form and attach a statement outlining how you meet the position criteria and related terms of reference of the committee.

    • An ability to constructively participate in an advisory capacity;
    • An ability to represent a broad range of views that reflect the diversity of the community;
    • A strong understanding of the local community and its social, environmental and economic influences;
    • Good knowledge and understanding of local issues;
    • Personal skills and experience of relevance to the terms of reference;
    • A willingness to contribute positively to meetings in a fair and unbiased manner;
    • An ability to look beyond personal interests for the benefit of the community and residents; and
    • An ability and willingness to encourage participation and feedback by the community.
    If this sounds like you then please nominate yourself for one of our advisory committees or community reference groups by 15 January 2017.
