Council adopted the updated Community Engagement Strategy on 11 December 2019See the news item for further information.

In 2014 Council engaged the services of local government specialist to evaluate Council’s community engagement practices, set long-term goals and develop a framework for resident involvement in decision making. This resulted in a strategy being adopted by Council in November 2014.

The Community Engagement Strategy is now 5 years old and due for review.

This coincides with an amendment to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) which requires councils to prepare a Community Participation Plan for land use planning matters by 1 December 2019.

Minor changes have been made to the actions outlined within the strategy, a section inserted to address EP&A Act requirements and references updated.

Did we get it right?

It's now your turn to have a say about how we involve the community in our decision making processes.

Please take a look at the draft Community Engagement Strategy and associated report to Council before sharing your thoughts by 6 November 2019.
