Your comments are sought during a public exhibition of the draft Lackey Park Regional Sporting Hub Concept Masterplan.

Council has been working with local groups to develop a masterplan which details a shared long-term vision to turn Lackey Park in Moss Vale into a dedicated multi-discipline sporting precinct.

The vision for Lackey Park is to provide:

  • a local sporting hub that has facilities which will attract regional, state and national level sporting events,
  • a home ground to several sports clubs, and
  • competition and/or practice facilities for others.

The masterplan outlines how the site could accommodate a variety of sports including rugby league, cricket and gymnastics. It also allows for possible future synergies with the adjacent Southern Highlands Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hub project proposed by the Moss Vale and District Basketball Association.

Take a look at the Document Library to see how Council proposes to:

  • transform the current under-utilised field into a multi-purpose complex that will accommodate multiple rugby league fields, a junior and senior cricket pitch and ancillary training facilities.
  • include the construction of a purpose-built grandstand, viewing mounds, formalised parking, gymnasium hall, clubhouse, change rooms, canteen, storage area, walking track, exercise stations and playground.

Did we get it right?

Have your say on our draft 2020 Concept Masterplan for the Lackey Park Regional Sporting Hub and help us meet the needs of our growing sporting community.

Thanks for the question. Unfortunately there is no opportunity to include Squash Courts and / or Badminton in this facility, as the restricted space does not allow for these sporting disciplines.

Thanks for the question. The flood zone has been taken into consideration with the current design and the height of the fields will be increased to assist with natural drainage. Furthermore stormwater management strategies will be incorporated in the overall design.

Thanks for the question. The current location of the Grandstand has been chosen as it's orientation is beneficial for the prevailing weather conditions that Moss Vale experiences in both Winter and Summer.  It also suits the proposed layout of the fields.
