Consultation has concluded
Wingecarribee Shire Council recently consulted with the community to develop the Draft Resource & Waste Management Strategy. The strategy will be used to guide the direction and resourcing of waste management for the Wingecarribee Shire. The Wingecarribee community generates over 35,000 tonnes of waste materials each year with a population 52,000 is spread across numerous population centres.
The Resource and Waste Management Strategy (Strategy) sets a pathway to support environmental and economic sustainability for the community. Council has engaged with the community, considered policy and strategic settings, and reviewed current operations, services, and facilities in developing the Strategy and action plan to guide Council and the community for the next decade
A key focus throughout the development of the strategy has been the engagement of the community through a series of surveys and community workshops. Capturing resident waste needs and expectations for materialisation within the strategy with a focus on waste minimisation and resource management.
The strategy is a combination of ambition, practicality, improved service offering and feasibility over the longer term. The strategy identifies 3 Strategy directions, supported by 18 Objectives and 78 key actions to be delivered over the strategy timeframe that will create a more sustainable shire. The Draft Strategy was the presented at the Ordinary Council Meeting in September 2023 and is now endorsed to go on Public Exhibition.
You can view the Draft Strategy and participate by providing feedback using the form below by Monday 6 November 4:30pm.
