East Bowral Improvements using Section 94 Funds

Consultation has concluded

East Bowral residents have an opportunity to shape the way their neighbourhood is improved in coming years.

As East Bowral grew, Wingecarribee Shire Council collected developer contributions to make improvements to infrastructure which would benefit the wider community. These funds have been used to provide playgrounds, community centres, footpaths and other infrastructure.

The Section 94 Plan has now been repealed by Council as East Bowral is fully developed, however there are funds remaining that need to be spent. A number of projects have been nominated by the East Bowral Community Group and Council staff which could be undertaken.

Information about each of the projects is provided on the right in the Library.

Unfortunately the ideas put forward exceed the money available so we are asking the community to prioritise them. It is now up to East Bowral residents to consider the proposed improvements and available Section 94 funds.

There are many ways you can share your views and contribute ideas:

  • Attend the public meeting on 1 September from 7.30pm in the East Bowral Community Centre to hear more about the proposed improvements and ask questions of Council officers. Bookings are essential for free childcare or RSVP by calling 48680761.

Over 60 residents attended the information evening held at the East Bowral Community Centre on Thursday 1 September 2011.

Council officers outlined the 17 different proposals and answered questions. During the evening it became clear that the proposal for improved lighting at the sportsfields was not required, nor requested by the involved sporting groups, however improvements in the area would be appreciated.

Project sheet 11 and the budget allocator have subsequently been adjusted to reflect these sentiments.

Project coordinators would like to thank everyone who attended this meeting for their interest and feedback.
