APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED. Over 60 individual applications were received by WSC but we managed to work through them quickly to determine whether they met the selection criteria. These were then passed onto Southern Phone for them to announce, however they had underestimated the level of interest from over 40 local government areas so will now complete their selection process in January 2015. Stay tuned for further announcements.

Wingecarribee Shire Council is offering community groups the opportunity to apply for funding thanks to a $25,000 dividend recently received from the Southern Phone company.

Council is a shareholder in Southern Phones, which is an unlisted Public Company of which only local councils can be shareholders and whose profits are returned to the community.

So get your thinking caps on and tell all the groups you're a member of to consider applying. They only have 10 days to apply (deadlines set by SP) and then unlike our traditional grants programs, the community will be invited to vote for their preferences online.

Applications for small grants valued between $5,000 and $10,000 are invited. Check out the FAQ, terms and conditions or ask a question. Applications close at midnight on Sunday 30 November 2014.

Successful applicants will be announced before Christmas.

Can you only apply for amounts between $5,000 - $10,000. So for example an application for funding of $1,500 would not be considered. please let me know. Thanks

ValeriaVine asked over 9 years ago

Good question! The Southern Phone Grant Scheme is designed to provide funding not presently available to the community. Our CommunityAssistance Grants Scheme offers funding of less than $5,000 to community groups. It is for this reason that we decided to limit applications to the higher dollar figure.

Do you need formal quotes for this application or are rough estimates sufficient given the short time frame?

Anne Wilson asked over 9 years ago

Hi Anne, that is a good question. We appreciate that there is a very short timeframe however an application with formal quotes would be favoured as we don't want any of the money left unspent and are not in a position to offer more.

Hello Prior to submitting an application, I'm wondering if community preschools are eligible to apply for this funding? Many thanks, Katie

Katie asked over 9 years ago

Hi Katie, the application criteria is pretty broad and community preschools would definitely be eligible to apply.

HELP!!!! YourSayWingecarribee.com.au I had just finished filling in the whole application and on the last click of Save and Continue everything was deleted. There was a pop-up asking if I wanted to Start Over? I didn't click on this but there was no where else to click that I wanted to retrieve what I had already done. Can you retrieve it please? Valerie Watson

Also, when will voting open and close for the applicants? Will voting only be conducted online? Will members of the community have to have a log-in and pass word to vote on the website? Thanks

luciprice asked over 9 years ago

We need some time to review applications so are unable to give an exact date for when the shortlisted applications will be available for voting just yet but should be by the end of next week. Community members WILL be required to register as this is how we ensure that they only cast ONE vote.

Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Community Assistance Scheme will open on 23 February 2015 and close on 27 March 2015. Organisations are encouraged to review the projects they are seeking funding for and review the guidelines and eligibility for these grants (which will be available on the council website soon) and have your application ready to go.
