PROJECT UPDATE | July 2020
Following a successful development application, work has progressed on the Berrima Marketplace improvements:
View the plansto see the revised approved playground equipment layout (this was approved via a Modification to DA submission)
Open tenders were called and Growth Civil Landscapes have been engaged by WSC to undertake this Project.
Two trees have been removed in the vicinity of the proposed playground location to enable the construction to be undertaken.
The design is complete and the Contractor is currently compiling necessary documentation to lodge an application to Council for the Construction Certificate.
Work is anticipated to commence on site in August / September and due for completion by the end of October 2020.
Council has developed a draft Masterplan for the Berrima Marketplace which will guide future provision, development and maintenance of this unique park in the historic village of Berrima.
The Marketplace is a very popular park for children and families, as well as home to a number of well attended events including Anzac Day and Australia Day.
The draft plan seeks to accommodate the needs of all users, proposing to provide:
an upgrade of the existing playground to become an all abilities play space,
accessible parking,
accessible pathways linking to toilets and playground,
provision of water and power access for events held in the eastern precinct,
tree management and suggested replacement species
irrigation
The design has been carefully developed with due regard to the unique character of the parkland, aiming to preserve and maintain its heritage style by utilising an appropriate palette of materials and colours.
Take a look at the draft Masterplan in the document library and share your thoughts by midnight Monday 24 June 2019:
This project has been made possible as a result of two successful NSW Government grant funding applications; one obtained by the Berrima District Rotary Club and the second a joint submission by the Rotary Club and Wingecarribee Shire Council.
